Highlights
- The Upper Safa Member is the main reservoir composed of a mixture of Siltstone, Sandstone, Shale, and occasional Limestone streaks.
- The Hydrocarbon Potential for Upper Safa reservoir is promising, with Effective Porosity of 11%, low Shale content 4.5%, and higher Hydrocarbon Saturation nearly 81.6%.
- The Upper Safa reservoir is characterized by sandy shale facies in all over the area of the studied wells. These facies reflect a fluvio-deltaic environment.
Abstract
West Kanayes oil Field is located in the north Western Desert and has very high oil and gas accumulations. The present study aims to evaluate hydrocarbon potential of Upper Safa Member, which represents the Middle Jurassic at this field, for five wells: WKAN D-1X, WKAN E-1X, WKAN F-1X, WKAN I-1X, and WKAN N-1X. We define petrophysical parameters for them using various data from five wells composed of wireline
